This Saturday, as the skies above Wilton Manors opened, a group of individuals stood strong, undeterred by the downpour. They were you, our supporters, standing shoulder to shoulder with us at the Stonewall Pride Parade. And today, we want to extend our heartfelt gratitude for your unyielding support and commitment.
In the face of adversity, you showcased an unyielding determination that beautifully mirrored the resilience of our community. The rain, while soaking us, could not dampen our spirit. It rather served as a poignant metaphor, a reminder that no matter how heavy the downpour of oppression or misunderstanding, we will not be washed away.
Instead, we rose to the occasion, with our presence signifying our unshakeable resolve to be our authentic selves. Your courage to step out, to embrace and celebrate your unique identities, was a remarkable sight. Like the diverse experiences within our community, each raindrop contributes to a larger, unstoppable flow.
This is the powerful message we sent to the world. A message that says we won’t be silenced. We won’t be erased. That we are here, we are diverse, we are proud, and we are not going anywhere. This message is made possible because of you. Your willingness to march, your resilience in the face of adversity, and your determination to uphold our shared values, reinforce our belief in the power of unity and authenticity.
As we dry off from this rain-soaked parade, we carry forward the spirit of Pride and the certainty that love, authenticity, and unity are forces more potent than any storm we may face. We march onward, looking towards a future where acceptance, love, and respect for diversity become the norm.
Thank you for being part of this incredible journey. We are because you are. And together, we make a difference.
Onward, with gratitude,
The Safe Schools Team
