What a fantastic day we had at My Hollywood Pride! Safe Schools was proud to run the Teen Lounge, providing a welcoming haven for teens, young adults, and their families. Amid the winter heat, our lounge offered much-needed shade, a plethora of refreshing drinks to stay cool, and a delightful spread of pizza and sweets.
We thank our dedicated staff and board members who helped set up and oversee this vibrant event. Your unwavering support and hard work are truly awe-inspiring. We created a space where everyone felt included, safe, and celebrated.

A special highlight of the festival was the honoring of our esteemed board member, Franchesca D’Amore, with My Hollywood Pride’s Trailblazer Award. Franchesca’s commitment to the LGBTQ+ community in South Florida is unparalleled. Her activism, which spans across arts, education, homelessness, human rights, and healthcare, has been a beacon of hope and change.
As the Board Secretary for Safe Schools South Florida and the founder of TransEd, Franchesca has been instrumental in creating educational opportunities for transgender and non-binary young adults. Her leadership in the inaugural My Hollywood Pride in 2022 as the Entertainment Director and her ongoing work in the Hollywood LGBTQ+ Council demonstrate her passion for equity and inclusion.
Franchesca’s role as an Executive Committee member of the Broward Regional HIV Planning Council further exemplifies her dedication to the community. Her unique life experiences and commitment to inclusivity and equality make her not just a trailblazer but a pillar of our community.
We at Safe Schools are honored to have Franchesca leading the way into a bright future for our LGBTQ+ youth. Her vision for education and advocacy aligns perfectly with our mission to educate LGBTQ+ youth and to train educators and caretakers.
