The Rainbow Report: Empowering Tomorrow’s Leaders: Expanding Opportunities with Community Support

At Safe Schools, we believe in nurturing the potential and amplifying the voices of the next generation of LGBTQ+ leaders. Thanks to the generosity and collaboration of our community partners, we are thrilled to announce some exciting developments that expand our impact and outreach in 2024.

This year, we are partnering with the Imperial Sun Court of All Florida, a dedicated group that shares our vision of a more inclusive world. Their commitment is highlighted by a generous $2,000 donation, which will be officially presented at the upcoming “Kick Off to Pride Charity Show.” This event is set to sparkle with community spirit on June 1st at the Pub on the Drive in Wilton Manors from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. We invite you to join us in celebrating this partnership and the start of Pride Month with an evening filled with entertainment and solidarity.

Further amplifying our efforts is the magnanimous support from Miami Shores Pride via the Save Foundation, who have contributed a remarkable $10,000 towards our scholarships. It’s heartening to see such powerful support from our partners, which allows us to increase the scholarship funds available to our students significantly.

In light of these partnerships and to allow more students to apply, we are delighted to extend the scholarship application window until July 1st. This year, we’re taking a unique approach to the application process. Instead of the traditional essay, we ask applicants to create a 3 to 5-minute video. This format allows students to share their stories in ways that are not only creative but deeply personal. It’s an opportunity to show us who you are beyond the digital application and to make a personal connection with us and the broader community.

Thanks to these collaborations, our total scholarship offering for this year has reached an unprecedented $22,000. This funding will go toward supporting the educational and leadership development of queer students in Florida, underscoring our commitment to empowering them to become agents of change in their communities and beyond.
