Safe Schools Welcomes Michael Eugene Robinson Jr. to the Board: Empowering LGBTQ+ Youth Beyond High School

We are thrilled to announce that Michael Eugene Robinson Jr. has joined Safe Schools South Florida as our newest board member! Michael brings a wealth of experience from his time at the University of Miami, where his dedication to social justice, equity, and advocacy for marginalized communities has already made a significant impact. His leadership in organizations like Black Leaders for the Queer Community and his involvement as a Pride Ambassador at the LGBTQ Center are just a few examples of how deeply committed he is to empowering LGBTQ+ youth and addressing the unique challenges faced by BIPOC populations.

As a senior majoring in Neuroscience, with minors in LGBTQ Studies and Chemistry, Michael’s academic journey speaks to his passion for intersectionality and advocacy. His work creating a BIPOC mental health group on campus and his role as the LGBTQ Liaison for the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Standing Committee highlight his dedication to improving mental health support and ensuring that every student, regardless of background, feels seen and supported.

Michael’s extensive involvement at the University of Miami, from serving as Second Vice President for United Black Students to his leadership in 100Strong, a pre-health organization for Black students, shows his commitment to working at the intersections of race, gender, and sexuality. His drive to pursue a Ph.D. in Neuroscience with a focus on BIPOC LGBTQ populations after graduation underscores his determination to continue breaking barriers in academia and beyond.

We are confident that Michael’s leadership will strengthen Safe Schools’ mission, positioning us as a pillar of support for LGBTQ+ youth and young adults not only through high school but into the next steps of their educational and personal journeys. His involvement will be instrumental in helping us expand our reach and create even more inclusive and affirming spaces for our students, preparing them for success in college and beyond.

Welcome, Michael, to the Safe Schools family! We are excited to see the incredible work we will accomplish together in advocating for and supporting LGBTQ+ students in South Florida and beyond.
